OAKLAND — Just as Albert Pujols’ bat is heating up, his legs are giving him trouble again.
Pujols returned to Southern California on Wednesday to be evaluated, according to General Manager Billy Eppler, who said a plan would be determined after the examination.
Manager Mike Scioscia said he’s expecting Pujols to be able to play when the team returns to action Friday in Seattle.
“He’s been playing on it and swinging well,” Scioscia said. “It just affects some of his running. He’ll be ready to go on Friday.”
Scioscia said Pujols was hurt on a slide into second Friday in Texas. Lately, there has been a noticeable deterioration in Pujols’ running, even from the limited level at which he’s run for most of the season.
